Annual regional meeting organised as a virtual event
The Seventh Plenary Meeting of the European Region of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM: Europe) was held on the 22 – 23 June 2020 as a virtual event. The Plenary Meeting overlapped with the 2020 Plenary Session of the Conference of European Statisticians, with a common session organised between the UN-GGIM: Europe and the Conference of European Statisticians.
The web session together over 100 senior executives and experts from the region’s national geospatial information and statistical authorities of 34 Member States and 11 international organisations.
In addition to the regular topics related to the adoption of the work program and the approval of new members of the Executive Board, participants were updated on the work carried out by working groups within the UN-GGIM Europe. The plenary also focused on current global issues such as the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) and the governance of the Global Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF).
